A wonderful trek will take you into the Jebel Siroua mountains, where you can experience a sense of wilderness and breathe the clean air of the peaceful valleys, surrounded by colorful foothills, mineral mountains and green valleys where the Berber inhabitants have kept the best of their ancestral traditions.
While traveling in the depths of these peaceful mountains, you will hike through impressive landscapes on well-marked trails, surprisingly not too strenuous and along the way, you will pass through remote villages and terraced fields offering you an insight into the daily life of the hardy and friendly Berber people. This trip stamps its imprint on your soul like nowhere else on earth.

Sirwa Massif Itinerary

Day 1 :
Ouarzazate

welcome by your tour guide and transfer to your hotel for the overnight stay. It’s possible to start from Marrakech airoprt.

After a leisurely breakfast, we set off for a cultural day tour to visit some of the amazing highlights of Ouarzazate and its surrounding areas. We visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and its fortified mud-red villages than one of the movie studios of this town. A short drive will take us to the fortified village of Ait Ben-Haddou, designed by UNESCO as a world heritage site. This village is famous as the location of several Hollywood films including Gladiator and the Lawrence of Arabia… Lunch is taken in a local restaurant and back to our hotel for the overnight stay.

Early departure from Ouarzazate towards Taznakhte town, we drive through scenic routes. Along the way, you will enjoy beautiful sceneries with different colors and the Berber villages between Ouarzazate and Taznakhte. We meet our muleteers with their mules in the village of Skoumet, followed by a direct lunch picnic. We then start our trek with a 3-hour walk, trekking down to the valley of Tislit. Overnight stay in a camp.

After breakfast, we leave the campsite and begin our day with a visit to the spectacular gorges of Tislit. We cross lunar landscapes before arriving at the valley of Tizgui. We trek up the valley crossing numerous Berber villages and terraced fields. Lunch picnic under walnut trees in the valley. The afternoon we visit a fortified Granary which dates back to the 17th century. We then carry on walking up until Tizgui village. Overnight stay in a camp after the village.

We leave our campsite at Tizgui and hike towards Tisswitine pastures. Half-day walking through lunar landscape crossing several sheepfolds where the nomadic people stay during the summer seasons. We arrive at our campsite around 2 O’clock, lunch and the afternoon is free. Campsite at the foot of Jebel Siroua 2600 meters high.

Breakfast will be taken early in the morning so that we can start climbing to Siroua. The track to the summit is not steep. We walk up at a leisurely pace and quietly enjoy the views all around us. Once we reach the summit, we admire panoramic views over the surrounding mountains of High Atlas and valleys across as far as the eye can see… Picnic lunch is taken on the way. Descente to the base camp by the Azib of Iriri for the overnight stay.

We leave our camp and set off for a wonderful day walking through breathtaking scenery. Walk over the pass of Azwou at 2450 m and trek down crossing grazing lands and green pastures. In the Afternoon we explore the site of Aziwane with its spectacular volcanic rocks. Back to the campsite. Diner and night under tents.

We set of for a half day walking and trek down until the village of Amssine, where our trek ends. Lunch followed by a direct transfer back to Marrakech. From the quaint oases of southern Morocco to the towering High Atlas Mountains, we drive through amazing landscapes going over the famous Tizi-n-Ticka pass at 2260 meters. We arrive Marrakesh late in the afternoon. Overnight in a nice hotel.

On your own you discover the medina of Marrakesh and its bustling souks. You can visit some highlights of this city including : the Bahia Palace, the Saadian tombs, which, incredibly date to the 16th century, and the Dar Si Said Museum and the Madrassa Ben Youssef. The afternoon you can wandering through the labyrinthine souks, bartering for souvenirs. Alternatively, you may prefer to head off and take a calèche ride to the peaceful Majorelle gardens, or simply enjoy a traditional hammam.

According to your flight times you will be transferred to the airport by your guide, who will also assist you with the paperwork formalities before you board your flight out. Fly back to your destination with sweet memories of Morocco.
